Check Out These Water Saving Tips ...

§        Check your toilets, faucets and pipes for leaks. This will save about 20 gallons/day/leak

§         Run only full loads in the washing machine and dishwasher. Saves about 300-800 gallons/month.

§         If you don’t have a low flow toilet, you can still reduce water usage. Put a plastic bottle filled with water and pebbles in the bottom of your tank. You can also use a large stone or brick. The displacement of water in your tank allows for less water usage with each flush. Saves 5 to 10 gallons/day or up to 300 gallons/month!

§         Here’s an easy one! Turn the water off while brushing your teeth. Saves 3 gallons/day/brushing!

§         Shorten your showers. Even a few minutes can save up to 700 gallons/month.

§         Install water saving shower heads or flow restrictors. You’ll save 500-800 gallons/month.

§         Set mower blades one notch higher. This one will yield several benefits. You’ll notice healthier grass and less weeds. Longer grass also means less evaporation from the soil, therefore, less need to water. You’ll save 500-1500 gallons/month.

§         Research your plantings. Choose those that require less water to survive.

§         Keep a bottle of drinking water in the refrigerator. This eliminates the wasteful habit of letting the water run until it’s cold. You’ll save 200-300 gallons/month.

§         Mulch shrubs, trees and planting beds. Mulch greatly reduces soil evaporation and cools the soil around plant roots. You could save 700-1000 gallons/month.

§         Collect rain water to use when watering outside. It is also great for watering house plants!
