Conserving Natural Resources

   in Changing Landscapes

Tri-County/City SWCD is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, focusing on natural resource problems and solutions. Like other conservation districts, Tri-County/City SWCD is self-governed,  non-profit and establishes priorities, sets policy, and administers programs to conserve soil and water resources.

Conservation districts comprise Virginia's only grassroots conservation delivery network that identifies problems and guides solutions voluntarily.

Tri-County/City SWCD is not a regulatory agency. Instead, the agency provides technical assistance, information, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and newsletters to citizens on many aspects of water quality, nonpoint source pollution, and stream health.

Districts get funding primarily through local government appropriations, fund-raising projects like tree seedling sales, and State and Federal grants.
