District (TCCSWCD) is an independent political subdivision of the
Commonwealth of Virginia. Its boundaries are the same as those of the City
of Fredericksburg and the Counties of King George, Spotsylvania, and
Stafford. Chartered
by the Commonwealth in 1947 to provide natural resource conservation
management assistance to citizens and local governments, TCCSWCD is now
one of 47 conservation districts in Virginia and approximately 3,000

governed by a ten-member Board of Directors, eight of whom are elected and
two of whom are appointed. The District employs four staff to carry out
the organization’s administrative and technical and educational
programs. The District has a strong partnership with its locales and
collaborates with local, state and federal agencies and a broad array of
organizations, businesses, suburban and agricultural land managers, and
individuals.
All
District programs and services are available without regard to race,
color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political
beliefs, sexual orientation, and marital or family status.
