About us ...

Tri-County/City SWCD is a self-governed subdivision of Virginia state government. Founded in 1944, we are one of 47 Soil and Water Conservation Districts serving localities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The District is governed by a board of directors formed of local citizens who serve without pay. District directors are either elected or appointed, and they are responsible for setting priorities, guiding and directing work, activities, and programs for District personnel.

The District works hand-in-hand with state, federal, city and county agencies and departments, other conservation organizations, schools, and other community partners to achieve our conservation objectives.
